Cold War Victory Medal
According
to Frank Tims, Ph.D., Legislative Liaison for the *American
Cold War Veterans, the Cold War Victory Medal was passed by
the House as part of the National Defense Authorization Act (
H.R. 1585). The Senate bill does not yet have the Cold
War Victory Medal, but will be co-sponsored by Republican
Senator Collins and Democrat Senator Clinton in S.1763, Cold
War Medal Act of 2007, and S.AMDT.2163. The Cold War
Medal must be considered in House-Senate Conference, since it
passed at least on house of Congress. If the Cold War
Victory Medal remains in the National Defense Authorization
Act, it will be passed, and all military members who served on
active duty between September 1945 and December 1991
(including Guard and Reserve), will be eligible to receive the
Cold War Victory Medal.
